Washing Your Glaive Tees and Hoodies Correctly
Step 1: Turn Inside Out
Always turn your merch inside out before washing. This protects the printed surface from friction against other clothes. The print side will face inward, reducing abrasion.
Step 2: Use Cold Water
Set your machine to cold water (below 30°C / 86°F). Hot water breaks down the ink particles and can cause cracking. Cold water is just as effective for removing sweat and dirt.
Step 3: Choose a Mild Detergent
Avoid detergents with bleach, optical brighteners, or fabric softener. These chemicals strip the ink. Look for a gentle, dye-free detergent. I've found that a teaspoon of white vinegar in the rinse cycle can also set colors naturally.
Step 4: Select a Gentle Cycle
Use the delicate or hand-wash cycle. The shorter agitation time minimizes stress on the fabric and print. For hoodies with drawstrings, tie them loosely to prevent tangling.
Step 5: Wash with Similar Colors
Sort your laundry - wash dark Glaive tees with other darks, and lighter colors together. This prevents color bleeding and keeps whites bright.
Step 6: Skip the Fabric Softener
Fabric softener coats fibers and can lift the print over time. If you want softness, use a half-cup of baking soda in the wash instead.
Pro tip: For heavily soiled items, pre-treat stains with a spot cleaner (like dish soap) on the print side, but test on an inconspicuous area first. Never rub aggressively - blot instead.
